A couple of weeks ago, some of the JMC team and I took a trip out to the City of Hope cancer treatment center in Duarte, a quick drive northeast of Los Angeles. Our mission: providing gorgeous makeovers to a group of women who were at City of Hope for cancer treatment.

Words cannot do justice to the feelings and emotions of that day. I was absolutely awed by the strength and resolve of these women. They each had a sparkle in their eye that shined brighter than most. It made me think of a divine light, of an angel residing in each of them.

It is so amazing to see how human beings, especially women, take on things so bravely once challenged. Life is so precious, this moment and every moment is so important. At City of Hope I kept being reminded of that. And I kept feeling an overwhelming sense of gratitude for my life and my loved ones.

We're all so much the same, we're all so connected. I think we forget that. But I want to remember. My day at City of Hope helped me to remember our connection to each other. I am grateful for the gift of remembering.

Happiness is so important for our health. I know this might sound funny, but sometimes I imagine the organs in my body smiling. It's a great visualization technique that makes me feel good, especially when I'm stressed and haven't been taking the best care of myself. We all need to take good care of ourselves - and each other. Reaching out, giving, sharing with one another is important. It feels good, it makes a difference.

That's why I strive to make Josie Maran Cosmetics as healthy as I can. That's why I infuse the line with as many natural and organic ingredients as possible. That's why we're a part of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. And that's why we will continually align ourselves with great causes like City of Hope's Women's Cancers Research.

Remember, for every GOGO (Get One Give One) Mascara bought by you, one will be donated to a woman who is a patient or survivor of cancer. We will also donate $1 from every purchase to City of Hope's Women's Cancers Research Program. Help yourself to a gorgeous mascara and help another woman at the same time. Now isn't that beautiful?

I wish courage, health, strength, and love to all the women I met at City of Hope and to all women who are faced with the prospect of battling cancer. I look forward to the day when we find a cure and conquer this disease!

Peace and love,
