Melt 4 tablespoons butter in a large pot over medium-low heat and add the onion, apples, potato and squash. Season with salt and pepper and cook until the onion is soft, about 8 minutes. Stir in the sage and flour. Add the cider and cook over high heat, stirring, until thickened. Add the broth and milk, cover and bring to a boil; reduce to a simmer and cook, stirring, until the potato is soft, 8 to 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, heat the remaining 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the prosciutto and cook until crisp, turning occasionally, about 2 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
Add the cheese to the soup and stir over medium-low heat until melted. Puree in a blender in batches until smooth; season with salt and pepper. Garnish with the prosciutto, more cheese and chives, if using. Serve with bread, if desired.
*Can be made vegetarian by leaving out prosciutto and substituting chicken broth for vegetable broth.

What's on your agenda this weekend? My calendar is filled with the oh-so-exciting task of cleaning my apartment. Yes, indeedie.
I've pretty much made the switch to greener cleaning products; no bleaches or sprays so toxic they don't even list the ingredients. Most of this happened when I read in What to Expect the First Year that it is less harmful to my baby to crawl around on a dirty floor than it is for her to touch a household cleaning product or breathe in their fumes.
This weekend I'm going to take it a step further. I'm going to make my cleaning products here at home. The first project I want to tackle is the bathroom and for that I'm going to use white vinegar. White vinegar is great for removing soap scum, bacteria, and mold from grout and tile. Plus, the smell totally disappears once the vinegar dries.
Use one part white vinegar to one part water, place in a spray bottle, shake up and green kleen!!
"Any old lip balm can temporarily hydrate dry lips, but if your pucker is flaking, peeling, or cracking, you need something that will actually repair it. Not only does this all-natural formula instantly quench parched lips (it contains argan oil, which is rich in Vitamin E and essential fatty acids), but it also keeps them feeling supple for hours. Plus, our testers liked the crisp green apple scent."
I love the holidays for so many reasons - eating amazing food, getting together with family and friends, expressing joy and gratitude for the year gone by. But let's not forget the one tradition that really rings my jingle bells - the holiday parties! Who doesn't love donning the perfect party dress? Go for the dramatic reveal in the foyer of whatever house you're at as you take off your heavy winter coat and present the gathering with your chicness. Of course, no holiday look is complete without great makeup application. The lush plum color of our Argan Lipgloss in Joie de Vivre is a gift in itself and will keep your lips luscious despite the frigid temps. Happy Chic'olidays!!!
