This Saturday, COMPAI DESIGN STUDIO and JOSIE MARAN COSMETICS will host a fun little event at LivingHomes in Santa Monica, California. If you're in town and would like to attend, please RSVP to compairehab@gmail.com. It'll be a homespun celebration and collaboration with all the smart and savvy green women in my life. Men invited too, of course. Hope to see you there. Have a beautiful weekend!
Hello to all on a beautiful Earth Day Eve! We can celebrate Earth Day Eve, right? Why not!
In just a few hours, Access Hollywood will feature a segment about a special collaboration between myself and jewelry designer Robyn Rhodes. Tune in to NBC at 7:30 p.m. PST/EST tonight to learn more. Robyn has designed a lovely necklace that will benefit our favorite organization GLOBAL GREEN USA. If you miss the segment, click here to read more.
Also, tomorrow morning, I will take to the QVC screen bright and early for a special HOT BEAUTY EARTH DAY SPECIAL - featuring the greenest in beauty and skincare. It's Josie Maran Cosmetics first time on QVC and the show airs live from 8 to 10 a.m. EST (that's 5 to 7 a.m. PST - yikes!). Hope all you early birds can tune in.
Lastly, let's not forget to take time on this very special Earth Day to think about our role on this planet. It's balance we all strive for. Some prefer to keep things very simple, while others immerse themselves in the luxuries life has to offer. Even simplicity can be luxurious. So, if it's luxury you love, let's make it Luxury with a Conscience.
Lots of Earth Day love,
Josie
Hello! Hello! Happy springtime to all! To celebrate this sweet season, I've created the Wildflower collection, which includes some fresh new shades. Lilac, Posey and Little Kisses are three of my faves.
Above is shot from my spring Wildflower look and below is a snapshot of me - chilling at home over the weekend (sans makeup, but ready for some lilacs, posies and little kisses).
For tips on using these spring-inspired floral colors, please visit our new Wildflower Collection link on the Josie Maran site.
Hope you enjoy the new palettes. I like to think of this collection as my little tribute to the wildflower in each of us.
Wildly yours,
Josie
Hey everyone,
Tune in to www.KarmaAir.com right now to hear my interview with my friend Barbra Horowitz on her awesome show, Fashion 411. The episode is titled, "Josie Maran - Beauty Without Baggage"... it's on right now and will also repeat.
Yaay! Enjoy.
xo, Josie
To all my sweethearts in the land of love,
I have always had a hard time with Valentine's Day. What is love and romance? Is it something you sit back and wait for? Or is it something you create? I say put love into action. This could mean treating yourself to a hike through a forest, or through your neighborhood, or indulging in a taste of organic chocolate. Maybe it means doing something nice for someone else. Whatever it is, it's worth putting your heart into it.
I put my heart into making the Josie Maran Cosmetics collection the best that it can be - beauty without the baggage. This is what keeps me inspired, hopeful and full of love.
I hope you enjoy some of the products I chose to create a new look for Valentine's Day. I call it The Hopeful Romantic. Please check out the "What's New" section of my website for more info: www.josiemarancosmetics.com
Love,
Josie
You may have noticed that we just switched up our website to feature JMC products that are helpful for healthy skin. But, what you might not know is just how amazing argan oil really is. Even I'm learning more about it all the time.
A few months ago, The New York Times did a story titled, "Liquid Gold in Morocco." The article described argan oil as one of the latest miracle ingredients in the beauty industry, "High in vitamin E and essential fatty acids, it is believed to help all sorts of skin conditions: dry skin, acne, psoriasis, eczema, wrinkles." And from what I've seen and heard, it's true.
Lately, I've heard testimonials from friends, family and customers about how using the Josie Maran Cosmetics Argan Oil has helped to clear up sunspots or remedy puffiness, dark circles and fine lines around their eyes or simply made their skin feel more supple and soft. My latest tip is to add a few drops of the oil to an already wet and dewy face. It melts into your skin and leaves it smooth and glowing.
So, please give the Josie Maran Cosmetics Argan Oil a try and see for yourself. Also, if you're able to visit our New York or San Francisco counters, we have free samples available.
I wish everyone healthy and happy skin. Be well.
My friend Heidi Klum is in India and saw this ad with me on it. Ha!
Didn't know I was a spokesperson for tourism in India.
Happy New Year Wishes
What a beautiful and exciting opportunity a brand new year brings! It’s a chance to make a new start and even change your perspective on life and what you make of it. I’m especially thankful for having had a successful and action-packed 2007 and wanted to share a few recent photos.
Here’s a photo of me speaking at the podium as well as a shot with Global Green USA President and CEO Matt Peterson.
Global Green also threw their third annual Gorgeous & Green benefit event in San Francisco where I got to show off the latest in green fashion. Here I am wearing Bahar Shahpar's zigzag plunge cocktail dress made of organic cotton.
Here’s a silly picture of Shannon and Diana at the Josie Maran Cosmetics counter at Barneys New York in San Francisco. Shannon, who works with me on our social and environmental initiatives, popped in to visit our counter manager Diana during her holiday visit home. Shannon loved chilling at the counter and getting a makeover from Diana.
And one of the most interesting events I recently attended was the eco-fashion event FutureFashion in Malaysia. While I was there, I was inducted as a Goodwill Ambassador for the organization Force of Nature.
And I also made friends with some cute little frogs.
Happy New Year to all.
Peace and Love,
Josie
Yes, the holidays are here and ‘tis the season for warm and fuzzy feelings of joy, cozy time and cold weather. It’s even raining in LA today which is totally nice for a change.
While we all try our best to make eco-conscious choices in our day-to-day life, the holidays are a special time for reflection. Something I just read which I found super interesting is that according to the Christmas Tree Growers Association over 30 million natural Christmas trees become a part of our throwaway society each year. So, instead it’s a great idea to buy a live tree that you can re-plant after the holiday season. The Sierra Club or a local nursery can give you advice about using a live tree for Christmas.
Other “green” ideas include sending holiday cards electronically to save on paper or donating to an environmental organization as a gift. Defenders of Wildlife has a donation program where you can “adopt” an endangered species like a gray wolf or a sea otter to help protect these animals in their natural environments – such a cute idea! Lastly, I believe it’s important to support companies that are offering healthier and greener alternatives in the marketplace; and of course, Josie Maran Cosmetics is always a great idea for all the beauties on your list. So, please visit us online and have a “green” and peaceful holiday season!
Wow! Who can believe it’s November already? I can’t. The Josie Maran Cosmetics counters have been up and running for a few weeks now, and I will soon be visiting each store to do a personal appearance. Please visit me at Barneys in San Francisco this Friday, 11/9, and next Thursday in New York on Thursday, 11/15. Each event will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. and we’ll have a team of makeup artists there to help you play and create a new look with the JMC line. Please come by to say hello!
Also, I’d like to thank the Teens for Safe Cosmetics for inviting me to participate in their panel discussion last month. The event marked the launch of their New York campaign and it was a huge success. The New York Times was even there to cover the evening. Here’s a photo of me and my fellow panelists tackling the tough issues with the teens. For more info about Teens for Safe Cosmetics, please visit them online.
